In this edition, we will be focusing on updating a COM400 Chassis’ firmware. The reason why we update it is for the chassis to properly communicate with the QAM/COM cards in the system enabling all of their great features.
Let’s start off with the basics, unless your system’s com cards or chassis was set to a specific IP address you will need to access your Ethernet Properties in your system and change your IPv protocols to a ‘192.168.100.xx’ with a subnet set to 255.255.0.0 to gain access to your com, below is a quick picture walkthrough showing you the correct process and a sample IP to set to.

After that’s complete you will log into your systems chassis. Run an Ethernet cord from your computer to either the 1GbE1 or 1GbE2 on the front of the chassis. (insert picture of front of chassis).
After you are physically connected you will need to type in the chassis’ IP address which is 192.168.10.3, after this is typed you will be prompted for a username and password; the username is: admin and there is no password. Once into you the system you will need to press ‘Maintenance’ -> ‘Software’ -> ‘Upload’

After pressing those buttons, screen will pop up prompting you to choose a file and upload it in this screen:

After you have chosen your file and uploaded it 2 things will happen and it’s very important you know this:
1.) You will need to wait a few minutes before being able to access your chassis again
2.) You HAVE to log-in to the chassis from a different IP, this update changes the log-in to the chassis to a 192.168.10.2 now, instead of a 10.3 you originally punched in.
After the update has taken you are well on your way to updating/configuring/setting up your new COM.
