DATA-TRONIX Announces Availability of VidCasterIP HD Video Streaming Transceivers    March 24, 2016

Las Vegas – HD Video Streaming System with Centralized Control – DATA-TRONIX announced immediate availability of a new hardware-based system for the distribution of HD audio/video content over existing IP networks this morning. This solution means properties can now utilize the existing IP infrastructure to add HD video distribution without the additional expense of installing new wiring.

Ease of integration is key

DATA-TRONIX Tech-Ops Manager Jimmy Martinson explained the advantage over other methods – “When using a traditional video switching matrix, all video sources and destinations must have dedicated separate ‘home run’ cables which all converge in a big wire bundle at a single point; the matrix / switcher. The VidCasterIP system works over an existing Ethernet network, so video sources and monitors can be physically located anywhere with access to the LAN.” Martinson concludes, “This solution provides substantial flexibility at significantly lower costs than traditional matrix switchers.”

Simple hardware

The VidCasterIP system consists of 3 types of devices:

  • Encoders (transmitters) receive an HDMI signal from a video source such as a Blu Ray® player*, satellite or cable receiver, CCTV camera, etc. The transmitter encodes the signal and places it on the network where it may be decoded at any point on the LAN.
  • Decoders (receivers) receive the signal from the network and convert it back to HD video. The HDMI output of the decoder is connected to an HDMI-compliant TV or monitor for viewing content up to 1080P resolution.
  • Control Box (One per system) The VidCasterIP Control Box receives routing commands from a user interface, such as an iPad or PC on the network, then communicates which signal each decoder should display. This solution allows the operator the advantage of creating “display groups” to allow multiple endpoints to receive instantaneous content changes via one operator command. For example, placing one of several sources (a set top box with the big game on) to all, or only to specific TVs, while placing other programming to other TVs.

Ease of operation

The VidCasterIP system is designed for use in a wide variety of applications such as sports books, arenas, convention centers, conference rooms, retail, bars, and restaurants with large TV systems. Operation is as simple and intuitive as using an iPad or PC. The VidcasterIP system can be scaled to a matrix size of 40 HD inputs and as many as 176 HD display screens. With this budget friendly approach, the operator can scale a system’s size over time by adding additional HD sources and receive points as the need and budget allows.
